story 1
i was oncall last night at emergency department. around 830pm, there was a case of blast injury. when i said blast....it means either it was cause by bomb or mercun or anything seangkatan dgn ye. since it is still in syawal month, mood raya still sky high, of course mercun is the perfect cause for blast injury.
it was a case of a young teenage boy who is so unlucky when his handmade mercun was blown off while he was holding it with his right hand. but i can say that he was a bit lucky because of all his fingers were still intact after the incident. lucky u boy. but some of the soft tissue ( i mean muscles, fat n skin at his palm) were gone. showed us a perfect white bone inside.
but, what made this case interesting to me is about his parent. actually his mother was in A&E (accident and emergency) while we were treating him. and she seem dont even care about her son. never come close to her son, never try to comfort him or even never approach the doctors to asked about her son's condition. yes, i shouldnt judge her. it just that, when ur son was in pain and is about to lose some of his body part, i think i will go straight to my son, n try to comfort him. give some mental support. she just standing at one corner..........crossing her arms. maybe marah kat anak kot. well....only god knows it.
story 2
today....got a clinical teaching at orthopaedic ward. while in teaching, i saw one HO (houseman officer) went to one of the bed in that ward. greeting the young lady. and they talked. discussing about something. and then after a few minutes, i saw that girl was crying. non stop. and in my mind, this is might be something big. something about cutting something.
and i am right. this patient is having osteosarcoma. one of the malignant bone tumour. and she defaulted treatment before. and currently presented with big fungating mass at her proximal fibula bone. she was planned for above knee amputation.
if i was her, of course i will cry. non stop. having a thought of losing one of my leg at a very young age is a nightmare. a few months ago, u still can run and the suddenly u are limping. only a strong one can go through it.
and about the parents....they are so supportive. both father n mother were there. patting her back, wiping her tears. i saw the mother also crying. can see clearly the love between the mother n the daughter.
i just wanna share with u. seeing this two cases, show us that each human being is different. like 1st case....her mother just watch her son from far, but on 2nd case, the mother was there, wiping her daughter tears. but actually, they are in almost the same situation. their child was in pain and is about to lose something.
but dont make a conclusion that the 1st mother dont love her son. cause i believe all the mother in the world love their children.
p/s: mak ayah....saya sayang kamu.
