read this post, i need someone to share!
currently, im in OnG posting. in this posting, we got a log book that full with a lot of requirement to be fulfill at the end of the posting. and one of the requirement is i MUST conduct 5 deliveries. yeah, it sound so easy and simple. but to get that 5, i have to be in labour room for hours. not all pregnant ladies come to labour room and deliver the baby in 1 hour. some, until up to 8-10 hours. and all you have to do, cover the case, prepare the patient, noted the progress and when the time come, conduct the delivery.
everything went well to me until today...i covered one case for my third delivery. she was admitted to labour room at 1030am. so i covered the case, marked her progress, updated her condition to doctors, counted the contraction in 10mins and even gave her a sip of plain water. i did almost everything in a hope that i will conduct the delivery.
clock shown 330pm. the doctor came in, did the VE and that time, the cervix was 7cm dilated. doctor decided to review the patient again in 2 hours. since i wasn't perform my zuhur prayer yet, so i decided to left my patient for a while and went to surau.
it just 5-10mins....
and when i came in that room again, i saw the placenta. repeat....PLACENTA!
i was so damn frustrated that time. and all i can say was...."cikgu, kenapa x tunggu saya?" (note: my patient is a teacher)
i know i shouldn't ask that question. but my frustration clouded everything. even, that time, i was almost crying in front of my patient.
you know, it is not easy for you to get one case and conducted it. sometimes, it ended with vacum assisted, or c-sec. in my case, i was frustrated cause i waited for almost 5 hours in that room, ignoring my empty stomach that crying asking for lunch, skipped the c-sec operation, just in a hope that i can conduct the delivery. then, just because i left her for 5-10min to spend time with my god, the baby came out. at first i was quite mad with myself. but then, positively i said to myself....
"maybe u miss this oppurtunity to conduct that case, but at least u did what u have to do as a muslim. pray to ur god and have a blessed life. dont worry, there's a lot of pregnant ladies out there. they just wait for their time to come to the labour room."
and then one pregnant lady came in.... and after 2-3 hours waiting, i conducted her case. that's the third, and i need another 2 cases to complete my requirement.
by the way, i met my school senior in labour room. batch 25. initially, i didnt recognized her, but then she said hi to me, and told me that i was her junior. and then all the sesma-kind-of memories flashing back to me. and yes, i know her. she worked as HO in labour room, and throughout the day, we just talking about all the people we knew in sesma. kind of happy to have someone you knew during your working day. at least, a little chit chat helps u to reduce the pressure.
now, feels better after sharing all those things that happen to me today with you. thank you for spending your time reading my 'frustration'.
c ya...take care!

p/s: i'm not adressing 'them' as all malaysian medical students outside of malaysia. just a little of them. very little. my point is so simple. siapa makan lada, dia terasa pedas ye. siapa makan gula, dia terasa manisnya.
