interview

hey guys....got a story today!

well, today i woke up so damn early because i got an SPA interview to attend. and i even got out from my room while the sun still not showing it's face yet. quite impressive from someone who loooooves to sleep like me. hehe

overall, all i can think about my interview is.....it was more like viva session. no session to introduce yourself or to praise yourself. all about medical and i hate it.

once i sat on that chair, they straight away bombarded me with medical questions. lots and lots and lots of medical questions. first they asked me to diagnose the 'headache', explain the different between pandemic and endemic? and i just like....what the hell is this. are u interested to know my name?? or where am i from?

well, after i sat there for a while, then they started looking at my collection of certificates, checking my SPM's result especially for bahasa melayu (that time i am sure that they're looking at my name) , looking for my biggest contribution for my old school and my university. plainly i told them that i'm good in sport. and after that he asked me either i'll be involved in sport or not after i starts working. well, i told him that we got 'sukan staf'. so if i got a time, i think i can do it.

after that.....medical questions again! wau this one is killing man. killer question. about maternal death which i've gone through months ago in O&G posting. da lapuk and reput kat dalam otak neh. so, i just smile and admit that i dont remember about that. luckily they change the topic and the one that i've just read 2 days before. so, still hot and fresh in my brain. then everything came out like a flash flood.

but, everything is about luck. my other friends that went to other rooms got so different situation. some was never been asked about medical. some even more like chit chat session, and some even horrible than me.

so sad. today is raining. i should be happy about the rain because i love rainy day. but that interview already clouded my mood and all turned to be gloomy. and i am so tired to think about it. i dont mind if i have to re-seat that interview but i do mind if i have to re-seat for my PRO exam (mintak jauh la that one). so keep looking and moving forward with steady and confident pace.

a bit drowsy today because of lack of sleep and caffeine overdose (2 fulled cups). so time to sleep and dreams about nice hot "mcdreamy" good looking guy!

c ya!

adik

i got one sister. a youngest sister. now she's in UUM doing a media course. well, as the youngest...she is so well pampered by my parents especially my mum. *plz dont deny it sis.

in our house, my mum called my sis as 'adik'.

and then...when my cousin and his wife died in a road accident, my mum took care of his children with my other relatives. so my sis will never be the youngest anymore. haha suka gilerr!

last night, i have a chat with her. and it goes like this....

sis: kak, are u there......*ding!
me: yes, im here. just went back from oncall.
sis: hehe miss me or not?
me: yes....miss u sayang!
sis: ooooooo....u sayang i?
me: haha whatever. why still online? it's late already.
sis: hehe cannot sleep lor. today i 'ponteng' all the class.
me: good2. do it again tomoro.
sis: hehe kak tau. today our mum went to hospital. took care tasha.
me: ooooo tasha still in the ward ek? forgot to call mum today. to many things laaaa. mak cite pe?
sis: xde pape. em kak.................?
me: yes?
sis: tolong bgtau mak something bleh?
me: ???? gado ke?
sis: no la.
me: so what?
sis: bgtau mak jgn panggil tasha 'adik'. adik tu tittle ma. hanya ma je bleh pakai title tu.
me: lor????
sis: hehe
me: mengada. da 21 pun still nak paggil adik.
sis: biarla. ma bongsu. so title adik tu utk ma je
me: yela2. apasal kak kena bgtau? bgtau la sendri.
sis: hehe saje.

well....that my sis. mengada and manja. and one more thing about her....she got one bantal busuk. named as Po-Oh. when we bought that bantal...it was bright yellow in colour. after years....now there is no more yellow. and i cant describe the exact colour actually. it's kind of black but not so black. mixed with brown and 1-2% of yellow. haha and if you want to kill all the fish in a river, just used that bantal. easy and cheap. haha it is so hard to separate her with that bantal. my mother even offered her to wash that bantal and as expected...the answer was NO.

and now i'm sure, she got the concrete reason to kill me. haha

post-blood donation neuropraxia

last thursday, i went for my 15th blood donation. thank god, my heamoglobin level was 14 g/dL which way soooooo good for blood donation. (~_^) happy!

so i asked the nurse to take the blood from my left arm since i'm a right handed person. well, i noticed that the vein was not so good. maybe because of repeatativly been punctured for blood donation for the past 4 years.

the nurse introduced the neddle to my veins and then.....i experienced shooting pain. it was like having a mild electric current passing through ur arm. so, i told the nurse that she was hitting my nerve. she drawed a bit and then tried again for the second time. and again....there was a shooting pain. however, the blood was coming out so i just ignored it.

well, the whole process, i was so worried about my left hand. all become numbs especially at my left thumb area. i told the doctor, and he thought that it just because of the hematoma compressing the nerve. so, after the donation, i put some ice to reduce the pain and also the swelling. then...everything seem to be ok.

the next day, while i was washing my clothes...i felt that shooting pain again. and it become worsen and increase in frequency throughout the day. it disturbed my day, and i've become moody the whole day.

saturday....my on call day. while get ready to go to the ward, i felt numbness over the dorsal part of my left hand (between my thumb and index finger). tinnel sign was positive. and that time, i knew that, that nurse hit my radial nerve and i'm having neuropraxia.

today, there's still numbness. not improving. but it just sensory numbness. so nothing to worry about. i hope it will be dissappeared within this 1 week.

when u read this post, dont be scared to donate your blood. there is a small chances that u will be having this kind of complication. besides, this is my 15th attemp to donate my blood. and i never had any complication before except pain.

well, if u r around the hospital, u might think donating blood is not important. i saw so many patients that their life was supported from other's blood. especially in thalasemia patient that need blood tranfusion 2-3 times per month.

so, to whom that never try to donate blood, better try once. if u cant go with it, then stop. but just remember, the patient that receive your blood will use it for 3-4 months. just count how many 'pahala' that u will get from each red blood cells and every second they use it.

i dont count it but i take donating blood as part of my responsibility to help other. cause i dont have a lot of money to give to the poor, so i give my blood to the people in need. and i think it is same.

so, lets go and donate some of our blood.

p/s: noddy and nurul, walaupun aku tau korg nk donate and slalu fail sbb low heamoglobin level, dont give up k. mkn byk2 and when both of u r ready, bring me together to blood bank. i miss that half boiled eggs. hehe

a letter : don't work our doctors to death

they scolded us when we gave them bad treatment.

they complained when we didn't smile to them.

and they even wanted to sue us and jeopardize our license of practice.

and i don't think they even have a thought about how hard our day is, working as a doctor.

and then someone has spoken.....

"DOCTORS hold one of the most noble jobs in the world but it is known that doctors in Malaysia are not treated well enough.

They need to work seven days a week and rarely get any public holiday.

When they are on call, they need to stay alert throughout the night. Can anyone imagine having to work through the night and continue working the next day?

Not even night shift workers work for 36 hours straight like some doctors do. The pay of a doctor is not as high as is expected as they only get between RM3,000 and RM4,000. Other than that, doctors are constantly yelled at by their seniors during their housemanship.

Although most doctors choose the profession to help the sick, the bad treatment they get often makes them neglect their duties.

All in all, Malaysia should truly appreciate their talented doctors and not work them to death.

Doctors should be given regular holidays as they have to work hard when they are on call. Those who do not know the real job of a doctor may think that it is easy. On the contrary, it is truly challenging."

YONG CHEE YUEN,
Kajang.

well, anyone still interested to be a doctor?

when i read this letter, i know that the hectic of doctor's working hours (especially HO) is for our own good. the more u spend ur time in hospital, the more skill u get. but when ur body and mental crying and begging for rest, that time, u r at the weakest part of ur practice, and prone to make mistake. am i correct???

and when there is a mistake, the next is a bucket of 'sumpah seranah' from your senior.

one of my prof said that HO's life is a period when ur life is nearly like hell. hehe maybe it just part of being grandiosity. but thinking that im going to be HO not more than 6 months, that's scary man.

so, just keep moving forward and be positive. amin.

stress + eating = gain weight

salam...

i've been abandoned this blog lately. i didnt mean to stop writing (never i hope), but it just that my head is so full with so many things. the Professional 3 exam slowly approaching, and in this 2-3 months left, i need to concentrate more to my exam and be prepared for that. very limited time to cover all the topics but i'll try my best for that.

actually, im stress. really really stress. cause when i have a thought about Pro 3, all the 'unpleasant' memories from Pro 2 flashed in my head and already gave me the goosebumps. seriously, it was scary. and im going to go through that experience again. *sigh

now, my time is quite full with study grup discussion every non-oncall night. the books are piling on my table. and next week netball training start again as preparation for SUKAD and MASUM. i cant help myself to stop playing. i need sport to control my stress level. at least, i got some non-medical time that i will enjoy much in one day. one of my junior said that i should stop playing and concentrate for my exam. well i halfly agreed with that. i wont stop, but i will slow down a bit. hello my dear, u spend much more time FB-king than playing sport. the netball training just 2-3 hours x 2-3 times per week. if im not going for the training, i'll sleep in my room. so no different right.

last few days, i went to the 8S ward to do short case practise on one patient. and after all done, i saw two weight measurement machine at the main desk in that ward. and i just like....lets do some weight weighing. my last weight that i measured was 50kg just after Hari Raya. i lost my weight and that time, i decided to work hard to increase my weight again. my aim is 53kg (my previous weight).

so first machine.........56Kg! and i just like...................oh? this machine got a problem. i step aside and get on that machine again and it was 56Kg! Again!

still in denial, i climbed the next machine and the result still the same. the lucky number of 56Kg. wau....i gained 6 kg for the past 3 months. amazing right?

well...im quite happy because im gaining weight. but i never thought that it will be 6Kg. after counting my BMI, it is still in normal range. so no need to worry about that. im not that kind of girl that keep thinking im fat and i need to lose my weight. i have no body dysmorphic syndrome. i know im thin. so, gaining some weight means gaining some fat and muscle and gaining some fat and muscle means gaining some body curve. ok what? ahahhaha

ok, enough for today. c ya!

inappropriate conversation

did you read the title??

so if you are under 18, back off.

this post is about inappropriate conversation between two medical students that have to be in the ward in thursday night for on call and trying to make it as fun as possible by talking about what-so-called inappropriate. hehe

x: oooo are you sure?
y: yes...im sure.
x: ooo ok. that doctor likes me. he is flirting with me. and that patient, he looked at your boobs and trying to touch your boobs. happy?
y: hehe happy.

situation 5

x n y: no. we r not.
dr: if u two hungry, u can get some food in pantry. i brought some cake and coffea. just go and take it if u r hungry.
x n y: ok, thanks dr
........
x: what wrong with this dr?
y: haha donno. trying to be nice to us.
x: this is not good...im horny, and that dr treated us nicely. not a good sign.
........
dr: im making a coffee. u want some.
x: no.
dr: y?
y: no thanks.
dr: if u want, i can make it.
x n y: huhu thanks.
........
x: oooo this is weird.
y: really really weird.

oooo...thats really really inappropriate conversation. but dont misjudge us. we just having fun. staying in the ward full with sick peoples already gave us some headache, and that kind of conversation with some medical jargon, did give us some reason to laugh.

p/s: sitting together, discussing the lab result, and sharing some meds school stupid life story....em i dont think that's flirting.

the end of 2009

hi everyone...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

hope, this coming 2010 will bring a new shine to us. amin!

i tried to recall all the good and bad memories about 2009...but nothing came out. all i can say, my 2009 is so plain and empty. of course something did happen to me in 2009. it just that...it did not leave an impact to me. or even a small tiny dot. my life in 2009 is so lame. i didnt have enough time for myself. i didnt have long free holiday to see other places. and my life is surrounded with patients, log books, requirement and presentation. and that is torturing.

after all this thing happen to me...where i should throw the blame.

ME or MEDICAL SCHOOL?

so my aim for 2010. get that DR title and MD degree, have my own salary, car and all the thing that i always 'meleleh air liur and berdarah hidung' when i look at it.

p/s: my results came out. i pass anaest posting, ortho posting and surgery posting. kind of ceria skit skrg.
